It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Carolyn Joy Simcoe on May 19, 2026.
Born on November 12, 1958 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Carolyn was a beloved Daughter, devoted Wife, loving Mother, treasured Sister, admired Auntie, cherished Baba, and dear friend to many. Her life was defined by her unwavering love for her family and holiday traditions, her generosity of spirit, and her remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel welcomed and cared for.
Carolyn had a heart that seemed to have endless room for those she loved. She was known for her kindness, compassion, strength, patience and sense of humor.
She had a remarkable gift for creating beauty in everything she touched. From drawing and crocheting to gardening, decorating, and baking, her creativity knew no bounds. Despite the challenges she faced throughout her life, she always put others first, offering encouragement, understanding, and unconditional love to those around her.
Nothing brought Carolyn greater happiness than spending time with her family and all her little canine companions. She was especially proud of her children and grandchildren, and she treasured every moment she spent with them. The holidays were dear to her and she had a remarkable gift for making them magical. Through her thoughtful traditions, warm hospitality, and attention to every detail, she created cherished memories that brought family and friends together year after year. Becoming a Baba was one of her greatest joys, she said, "the most you will ever love is with your grandchildren" and the love she shared with her grandchildren was in everything she did.
Carolyn found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved being surrounded by nature caring for her gardens, beloved animals, and creating special memories with those she loved. Her home was a place of warmth and acceptance, where family and friends always knew they were welcome.
To her sisters, Carolyn was far more than a sibling. She was a lifelong confidant, a source of strength, and a best friend. The bond they shared was built on a lifetime of memories, laughter, support, and unconditional love.
Carolyn's life was forever changed by the loss of her beloved husband, Martin, whose passing left an immeasurable void in her heart. Yet even through grief and the incredible challenges that followed in her life, Carolyn continued to demonstrate courage and resilience, inspiring those around her with her determination and grace.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Vanessa, Leo (Michelle), Luke (Terra Nova), and Michael (Janelle); her sisters, Sharon, Christine, Sandra, and Jacqueline; her nieces, Leah, Erin, and Maeghan; her nephews, Isaac and Samuel; and her beloved grandbabies Maverick and Isabella, and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Martin, and her parents, Beryl and William.
A Celebration of her Life will be held on June 28, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Horticulture Centre of the Pacific in Victoria, British Columbia.
