Dana had recently retired and was enjoying the tranquility of Vancouver Island life in Nanoose Bay, B.C.
We remember all the things that Dana loved to participate in, including his undying devotion to the Toronto Maple Leafs, as well as the Blue Jays and the Argos. He was also a big NFL fan, the NY Jets were his team, and he enjoyed being part of football pools and conversations on game days.
In his spare time when he was not coaching or watching sports, he was engrossed in British crime drama or reading crime novels, mystery books or non-fiction, with a special interest in history and World War II.
Dana loved music, with a special shout out to Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty. We enjoyed many late nights on the deck singing along.
Family time was important time, and Dana loved spending summer nights, camp-outs, car trips and other vacations with his family. He was especially proud of being able share his boat to teach his nieces and nephews how to water ski.
He loved all the pets he had through all the years, and most recently has been a devoted dog owner to his beloved Muddy.
Dana is survived by his son Ray, his sisters Kim, Danica, Deanna, his brothers-in-law Lou and Randy, and nieces and nephews Brandon, Shannon, Paige, Noah, Charlie, Leah, Ellen and Aidan.
Dana, we love you and we will miss you dearly. May God give to you and all whom you love, comfort and peace, light and joy.
A burial service for Dana will be held on Saturday June 21, 2025 at 1:00 pm at St. Stephen's Church, Vankoughnet Rd, Bracebridge Ontario.
We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to the paramedics and the staff at Nanaimo General Hospital.
Memorial donations may be made to your local SPCA, or Cornerstone Shelter Services, John Howard Society in Kelowna B.C.
