Diana Mary Turner

Following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, it is with deep sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of Diana Mary Turner of Nanaimo on July 13, 2026, at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Diana was born in Petts Wood, Kent, England, and her ashes will be returned to the country of her birth.

Beloved wife and partner of Brent Meunier; cherished sister of Sheila Korlak (late Bob); sister-in-law of the late Marilyn Bruce (Alan), Lorne Meunier (Sorayda), and the late Wayne Meunier; aunt of Lisa Weed (Paul), Nicole Conrad (Andy), and Teresina Deevy (Bill); and daughter of the late Nelson and Gwendolyn Turner.

Diana will also be missed by numerous relatives and friends located throughout Canada, the United States, Australia, and England.

Her life included employment in the hotel industry and the secretarial, arts, and gardening fields. Diana’s relocation to Canada provided her with the opportunity to graduate with an Honours degree from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Victoria. Even before, and further facilitated by, her university education, Diana had a lifelong hobby of exploring history through art, initially at Stonehenge on Salisbury Plain, and followed up at numerous locations including Delphi and the Acropolis in Greece; Pisa, Pompeii, and Rome in Italy; Chichen Itza in the Yucatán Peninsula; in addition to sites in Spain, France, and the former country of Yugoslavia.

One of Diana’s most enjoyable hobbies included organizing and promoting the annual Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Dog Walk at Neck Point, Nanaimo, for more than 10 years, attracting participants and their dogs from British Columbia, Alberta, Washington, and Oregon.

Diana will be remembered for the deep and enduring love she had for her life partner of almost 55 years, and for her family and friends; for her love of animals, including the many pets she welcomed into her life over the years; for her deep knowledge and appreciation of history, art, and antiques; for her sweet nature; for her curiosity and wisdom; and for being quietly, hilariously funny. She remains forever loved.

Diana’s extended family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the excellent nurses and medical staff at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

In accord with Diana’s wishes, no public funeral will be held.
