

Diane Marie Lyman (Owen-Turner), 89, of Burnaby BC passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born in 1936 in Burnaby, BC, she was the middle of three children of the late Des and Freda Owen-Turner. She is survived by her brother Bob and sister Suzanne (Don). Married for 66 years, she was pre-deceased by the love of her life Harvey. She was a loving mother to David (1962-1996) (Robin) and Lee-Ann (Warren) as well as grandmother to Chelsey (Nate) and Matthew (Jalena), and great-grandmother to Landen, Dane and Willow.
Diane attended Burnaby South High School where she met Harvey and began a love affair that would last for over 75 years. She continued her education at UBC, becoming a primary school teacher. After taking time away to start a family, Diane went back to teaching part time until she retired in 1976. Diane and Harvey spent decades camping and exploring Canada and the U.S. in their RV, and returned often to Hawaii. Their love of travel took them on many adventures in Europe, Mexico and on several cruises. Upon Harvey’s retirement in 1989, Diane and Harvey became annual snowbirds, golfing and building lasting friendships in Arizona where they added to their many wonderful memories over the course of 25 years.
Diane was incredibly gifted in the domestic arts. Her skill in the kitchen created immeasurable feasts and delights. She sewed her own clothes her whole life and was exceptionally talented at knitting and crocheting.
Diane will be remembered for many things by those that knew her including her endless optimism, the countless feasts she bestowed upon family and friends, her appreciation of a cold beer, and her sense of adventure.
In lieu of flowers, Diane requested that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
