

Frank was born July 4th, 1953 in Snider Mountain, New Brunswick to parents John Eslie Long and Esther Irene Long (Nee Edgar)
Frank leaves behind his loving wife of the past 14 years, Diane Long. His four beloved children; Melissa (Perry), Josh (Alyssa), Andrew (Senja), Adam (Brittnee) and his granddaughter Hope. His siblings Arthur (Beryl), Luella Crosby, Walter (Coni), and Arletta Long Hayes. Survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by his parents; Eslie & Esther and sister Elizabeth Johnston, brothers-in-law Richard Simpson, Ernie Crosby and Warren Hayes.
Frank moved from New Brunswick to BC in the early 80’s, stopping in Cranbrook and starting his own family before moving to Nanaimo in 1992
He wore many hats during his lifetime; owing Binky’s Auto Detailing in Cranbrook, sales for Revelstoke Homes, painter and handyman for Island Professional Cleanup, Co-owner of his Computer Cleaning business in Nanaimo, Janitor at First Baptist in Nanaimo, DJ, banker, taxi driver and many more before finding his calling as a truck driver.
Frank drove for Beaver Lumber, Revelstoke, Dolphin Transport, Dan Foss Couriers, school bus for School District 68. His favourite routes were those with the Special Education students. He always took time to get to know each of them and their unique needs.
His final truck driving position was with the crew at PacTow, where he drove for 19 years. The entire PacTow (& Seaspan) team meant a lot to Frank and the Ainey family took great care of him during his employment. He retired from PacTow last year.
Although brief, Frank enjoyed his retirement by playing golf with friends, pickleball at the church, serving coffee during Sunday services, and chatting with everyone.
He coached many hockey and baseball teams when his kids were younger, teaching the sports he loved. He refereed and played hockey himself. His favorite teams were the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Dallas Cowboys. His other hobbies included cooking his baked salmon, baking bread, woodworking and cultivating his prized raspberry bushes.
Frank had a deep faith in Jesus that he desired to share with both family and friends throughout his life, especially during his fight with cancer. His Church community rallied around him and his family during the final months, allowing Frank to be at peace during this painful time.

Frank was well loved, he will be missed and remembered by many people for all his involvement in the community.
A service will be held at First Baptist Church, 1650 Waddington Road in Nanaimo, BC on July 25th at 11:00am
