Ignazio was born in Pordenone, Italy in 1935 and came to Canada in 1954 beginning a new chapter of his life in a country he would proudly call home. He spent most of his working life in the forest industry as a Heavy Duty Mechanic, where he was known for his hard work, dedication and ability to fix just about anything. His working years were an important part of who he was, but his family, friends and nature meant even more to him.
Ignazio shared 67 wonderful years of marriage with his loving wife Giuseppina, his lifelong partner and the love of his life. Together they built a family and a lifetime of memories, including many trips-particularly Mexico, Hawaii, Italy, Arizona and many memorable family road trips.
He will be deeply missed by his children, Al (Anna), Steve (Debbie), Elena (Glen) and by his three beloved granddaughters, Selena, Martina and Claudia, whom he loved dearly and was so proud of.
Some of Ignazio’s happiest times were spent at his home and acreage in Nanoose Bay, making wine, playing guitar, talking with friends all over the world on his Ham Radio, climbing and topping trees and many activities with his grandchildren - impressing them with his swan dives into the Englishman River. He was also a member of the Cavalotti Lodge for many years, participating in many Bocce and card tournaments.
Ignazio will be remembered for his hard-working nature, his wine, his love of his family and the memories he created with them. His presence will be missed, but his love and the life he shared with his family will remain in their hearts forever.
Rest Peacefully, Dad. You will always be loved, always be remembered and never forgotten.
The family would also like to thank the staff at Nanaimo Seniors Village for their love and care.
