IN THE CARE OF

First Memorial Funeral Services

It is with a very heavy heart we announce the passing of Juergen Hans Bouman August 20, 2025 at 67.

Juergen was born to Helga and Gerd Bouman October 30, 1957 in Nurnberg Germany. He immigrated with his mom and brother, Guenter, to Hamilton, Ontario in 1958 to join his father. Sisters Anne and Cathy were born in Ontario. The family moved to Kitmat, Port Moody, and then Nanaimo. Nanaimo was where Juergen discovered his love of the ocean. He became a diver and loved to spear fish. He made his first dive gear at 12 years old using the tank from a fire extinguisher. Juergen could make and fix most anything, from construction to automotive. At 16 Juergen bought his first boat, a 16 foot advancing up to his last boat a 34 Californian, Playa Casa, which he had for twenty years. Juergen’s favorite area to boat was the Ladysmith harbour area.

Juergen and Lorana met on the island and were together for 43 years. They were soul mates and best friends. They loved to travel together and did lots. Juergen recently got to his 55th country. When asked what was his favorite country he generally would not commit, however he often said he could live in Australia. Juergen and Lorana have adopted family in Bali and went to visit them often. They had five acres in Lantzville for 36 years and built the property up from scratch. Juergen created rock walls, a fish pond, he really loved his fish, and many interesting gadgets in his shop. Juergen’s favorite part of the day was being with Lorana to tell her his daily events. Juergen was always available to help family and friends with fix it jobs. He loved to have a project on the go. During most of his career he was in sales, from chain saws, to industrial chemicals, to small business memberships. He could sell anything as he was such a likeable man and he loved to tell and hear a story.

Family was important to Juergen and he was lucky to have his siblings/ nieces/ nephews close by. He had a full, fun life, with great adventures but left far to early. His laugh was infectious and he could not resist a good hug. He was very thankful for all the assistance he got from his friends and family during his fight with cancer. He put up a valiant battle for almost 3 years. With Juergen gone the world will be a lesser place for all of us who knew and loved him, but he will live in our hearts forever.
