OBITUARY

Loc Viet Hoang

17 April, 1956 – 9 December, 2024
IN THE CARE OF

First Memorial Funeral Services

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Loc Viet Hoang on December 9, 2024 at the age of 68 from respiratory complications after several years of battling cancer.

Loc was born in Saigon, Vietnam, and immigrated to Canada in 1979 as a refugee. Shortly after settling in Canada, he met his first wife Trinh, with whom he had four children: Tram, Long, Bonbon, and Quynh. Loc worked as a mechanical engineer for most of the 90s before setting out to become an entrepreneur after the end of his first marriage.

Missing his homeland after over 20 years of living in Canada, Loc returned to Vietnam, where he resided for a number of years. While in Vietnam he met and married Lien, with whom he had one child, Binh An. Loc later moved back to Canada with Lien and Binh An so that he could be closer to his older children and provide better opportunities for his wife and child.

Loc had a knack for learning; he was an avid reader and was always interested in the newest technology and developments. He encouraged the same desire for knowledge in his children, often taking them out on nature walks to teach them about the different creatures and plants that he had learned about. He loved animals, and so his children grew up with many family pets, from dogs to birds, fish, turtles - and even a brief (and unexpected) stint with a litter of puppies.

Family was very important to Loc. Being the eldest male child of his parents, he was looked up to by all of his younger siblings. Loc was always willing to offer help to his family if they were struggling, but he made sure that they were still able to remain independent.

Loc is survived by his wife Lien; their child Binh An; his older children Tram, Long, Bonbon, and Quynh; grandchild Ellie, and his siblings Diep, Hang, Son, Thao, Yen, Thuy, and their respective families.

We would like to invite all of Loc’s family and friends to join us in remembering him at First Memorial on Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 9am until 12pm.
