She took the role of mother, grandma, sister, aunty and friend to a whole new level. Born in Oliver BC November 7th 1944 , she bravely fought until 12:12 pm November 15th 2020.
Being raised by Margaret Elizebeth Mary Chalifoux (nee Lyons) was like being raised by Marilyn Monroe, Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks, and Jane Fonda. She taught by example, self worth, forgiveness, independence, healing with laughter and facing obstacles with dignity.
Classy and sassy, she lit up every room she was in. She returned to school at 49 with a grade six education and graduated at the top of her class and went on to work as a health care aid for 22 years. She inspired many. Literacy, education and opportunity was something she wanted for all. She only retired at the age of 72 to fight cancer, which she beat twice. She had hospital staff and visitors singing and dancing. She had a way of making everyone want to dance as freely as her. We now imagine her dancing with the angels. Her kids, grandkids, friends and relatives would like to thank the NRGH palliative unit for the love and kindness you showed her. Until our next dance, the music will never be the same without you.
