It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our Mum, Nana and Big Gran, Auntie and friend, Fay Lorenzo.
Fay passed peacefully on June 8th early am with her daughters by her side. She was surrounded by her kids and grandkids. She knew how much she was loved. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Kevin , Aileen, Wendi-Fay (Bill), Kyle (Rose). Fay was preceded in death by her eldest Daughter Karen Christensen, Son in Law Carl Christensen and her brothers David and Fred Brodie. Mum will be missed by her grandchildren-Kelseay, Robbie , Chae, Wyatt, Zackary, Madyson and Tyler. Her great grandchildren - Blake and Hunter, her niece Ellen, extended family and friends.
Mum was born in Stanley, Scotland on September 24th, 1940. She became a Registered Nurse before she immigrated to Canada in March of 1968. Unfortunately, she was not able to continue that career in Canada. She worked at numerous care homes through her younger years in any capacity she could. She always told people she was a “rusty Nurse”. Fay lived in Chemainus and settled in Nanaimo for her remaining years. She was very involved in her Church which included missionary work in Mexico in May of 2002. She loved being around people and volunteered wherever she could.
Fay was known for her Tea or should we say “sugar with a spot of Tea” and her sweets. Always having them available for anyone that stopped in. She loved having visitors.
Fay was known for her fierce stubbornness(although she would never admit it), her friendliness, and her gift of gab. Fay always insisted on doing it herself, “I don’t need help”, she would say. She was so very independent. She loved telling people about her childhood and was extremely proud of her Brother’s, the 15 years age difference and her heritage. She was always telling stories and was so very proud of her Brother Fred’s pipeband, his visit with the Queen Mother and all his years of teaching others to play the Bagpipes.
Mum, you will always be so very missed and in our hearts, but we know you are now at peace and dancing in Heaven with those you love.
We love you so much.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 13th, at 6pm at Koffeology, (Beloved City Church) on 2025 Bowen road. (accessible entrance at back)
What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose. “Memories and love are the timeless treasures of the heart"
Bye for noo
