Rick will be remembered for his years of dedicated service, his love of family, and the simple pleasures he enjoyed in retirement.
He devoted more than 35 years of his life to the fire service, retiring from Nanaimo Fire Rescue in 2007. His long career was a testament to his commitment to helping others and serving his community.
Following retirement, Rick enjoyed travelling with his beloved wife, Michelle. He also cherished time spent at the beach, where he could relax and enjoy life at a slower pace. He was rarely far from his constant companions, Ruby and Onyx, who brought him comfort and companionship.
Rick and his family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the ICU and Palliative Care nurses and doctors at NRGH for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion they provided.
Rick leaves behind his loving wife, Michelle (née Timberlake); his children, Austin and Rachel (Connor); and his brother, Bruce. He was predeceased by his father, Walter, and his mother, Lois.
As per Rick’s request there will be no formal service.
