It is with sadness and a sense of peace that I announce the passing of my husband Sven Rance Toivonen after a lengthy illness. Sven slipped peacefully into the arms of our Lord at home on Friday May 6th, 2016. Sven was born in Nanaimo on April 12, 1942 and spent his entire 74 years in the area between Nanaimo and Chemainus. His work career was in mills in the area ending at Fletcher Challenge in Crofton in 1998. Sven's true passions were family, friends and hockey. He was a long time season ticket holder with the Nanaimo Clippers and a die-hard Canucks fan. Sven is survived by his wife Marlene and their children; Kaarlo (Sheila), Leah, Sandi Rutz, Sherry (Ken) Jung and grandchildren Devin, Ethan, Cameron, Brody, Brittney, Taylor & Kiely.
