Teresa "Pat" Mary Patricia Cowie

Pat is survived by her loving husband Stephen Cowie, relatives in Australia, Europe, and California, dear friends Nuala and Garry Cameron, God-Children Lorna Zebedee (Peter), Ian Cameron (Nang), and their children Ferdia, Shannon and Aidan, as well as many dear friends in Nanaimo and around the world.

Pat lived a very full life. She greatly enjoyed her career as a Registered Nurse, working in England, Kingston Ontario, and Nanaimo BC. Pat met Stephen Cowie in 1970 in Nanaimo, and they were happily married for 54 years. Pat had many hobbies and interests including her love of golf with her ladies group at the Nanaimo Golf Club, where she was a longstanding member, reading, opera, ballet, playing the piano, swimming, playing bridge, sailing with Steve, and travelling. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and friends, and especially her cats over the years.

Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Palliative Care at NRGH, and to the Community Home Care Palliative Care Team, for their exceptional compassionate care towards Pat and her family. A Celebration of Pat’s life will take place next summer at the Nanaimo Golf Club. In lieu of flowers, we respectfully ask that donations be made to Palliative Care at NRGH or the Nanaimo SPCA.
