Doug spent most of his childhood in Timmins, ON, later moving to Lethbridge, AB and finally settling in Nanaimo, BC in 2020.
He is survived by his wife and "playmate " of thirty-one years Diane, his mother Patricia Hebert, his sisters Helen, Tracy, Elizabeth, Maria and Jennifer, his brother John and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his in-laws The Carsons: Lyle, Helen, Brenda, Brad, Casey, Brett and Jovan.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Wilfrid and Mae Gervais, his father Bill Hebert, his uncles Jacques and Wilfrid Gervais and his nephew Jamie Humphries.
Doug worked for many years with special needs adults and had many fond memories of that time. In Nanaimo he worked at The Home Depot and Rona. He was very skilled at interior design and home renovations and nobody could install wallpaper like he could! For his last ten years he worked as a Health Care Aid and a Door Ambassador at NRGH where he enjoyed time spent with his many co-workers.
Doug had a great sense of humor and was the life of any party. He had a very kind, generous nature and would share anything he had with you. He and Diane traveled many times to Jamaica. It was their special place and he jokingly called it his "homeland ".
He will be cremated per his wishes.
Doug left us far too soon and will be sadly missed.
