May 16, 1941 – December 29, 2018
So long and thanks for all the fish!
It is with great sadness the family of Bill Phillips announces his passing on December 29, 2018 at the age of 77 years.
Bill was born in Nelson, BC where he completed high school and continued on to the University of British Columbia. He graduated with a degree in English & Psychology. He was married to Donna and began teaching in Quesnel, BC. Two years later Bill and his family came to Port Alberni where he worked most of his career at A. W. Neill School as a counsellor and English teacher.
Life was happily spent traveling, boating down the Alberni inlet and spending time with school mates from Neill.
Bill spent 30+ years with Shirley (Sam) Morrey as his loving wife. A big trip to Kenya was certainly a highlight of their travels.
After Shirley passed, Bill found a new companion with Sandi Evans and they went on several amazing trips. Sandi cared for him during a hard time.
Bill is survived by daughters Wendy (Jason) and Leslie (Scott) and grandchildren Dyllan, Tristan and Camille. Bill was predeceased by Shirley and his stepdaughter Kristy Morrey.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Port Alberni Legion, 4680 Victoria Quay.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Port Alberni SPCA, 4936 Broughton St., Port Alberni, BC V9Y 8R6.
