Carol W. Dean

Carol W. Dean was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on October 13, 1942 to Esther Louise Wollenhaupt and Arthur F. Wollenhaupt. Carol stayed local with her loving family and graduated from Poughkeepsie High School and then Bennett College in Millbrook, NY. She spent many summers enjoying Lake Champlain in North Hero, VT.

On a blustery day, December 31, 1971 she married G. Vincent Dean Jr. Esq. (whom predeceased her on October 22, 2015).

Carol is survived by her daughter (Catherine D. Schulman), Cathy’s husband (Jonathan R. Schulman) and her grandson (Dean Arthur Schulman) age 6.

Dean was the light of her life,“Grams,” as Dean called Carol, would entertain her for hours swimming in her pool, driving his toy boats in the pool, pretend playing landscaper or contractor or even waiter, delivering snacks to Grams.

Carol had a deep seeded passion and devotion for cats. She never had a day pass in her entire life without a cat in her home. The family joke was “we’d all like to come back as Mrs. Dean’s cat.”

Carol believed in giving back to causes that were near and dear to her heart or that she knew “would benefit so much from our support.”

A private service will be held at the family’s convenience at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
