This, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, took his last breath at 11:32 am, on December 26th, the day after Christmas, which was his favorite holiday. For us, it meant one more Christmas with our beloved patriarch. Frank was 86 years young.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice, “Maria” Shields, his children: Lisa Marie Corbin, Kelley Anne Carrillo, Christopher Francis Shields; his Son in-laws, Steve Corbin, and Fabian Carrillo, his Daughter-in-law Heather Shields, grandchildren, Stephanie Marie Corbin, Aimee Nicole Esler, Victoria Marie Carrillo, Fabian “Antonio” Carrillo, and Samuel Franklin Shields.
Frank was born in Boston, Massachusetts — grew up in Peterboro, New Hampshire, to parents Dorothy Gambon and Francis H. Shields, Senior. He enlisted in the Marines in 1958 serving during the Bay of Pigs, and eventually becoming an Air Force Reservist based out of Homestead in the ’70’s — after moving his family to Florida.
He was a business owner in New Hampshire, a lineman for United Telephone starting in 1974 and a Union Steward who rounded out his career working in the Facilities department of what became Sprint and Embarq.
His legacy is love for country, family, and all things gardening. His greatest love of all, is his wife — and a marriage of 62 years, is an inspiration to all.
A memorial service will be announced soon, where all are invited to attend and celebrate Frank’s beautiful life.
In lieu of sending any gift and flowers to the bereaved family, donations can be sent to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
