Gary Wayne Roark

16 June, 194716 February, 2021

Gary Wayne Roark, 73, a lifetime Neopolitan, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 after a 16 month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Gary attended Collier County schools and graduated in 1965. After graduation he was employed by Out Board Marine for a couple of years before enlisting in the United State Air Force in 1967. Serving proudly from 1967-1971 as an air traffic controller.

After returning home he worked for his dad until 1978 when he established his own business, Tropical Plumbing, which later became Tropical Contracting Co., Inc. In business for 41 years he provided well for his family and they enjoyed many adventures through the years. He enjoyed boating, cars (race and show) go carts, swamp buggies, music and dancing, but most of all he enjoyed family and they were always included in all activities. His dry sense of humor and quick wit were always enjoyment for himself and others. He was a good, honest man and tried to do his best in all things.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Kathryn, (his first wife, as he liked to introduce her) and his sons Dustin (Marisel), Blake (fiancé Valerie), and Lance, of Naples; two granddaughter, Rachel and Kailey Roark; his sister, Pamela Wilson (Charles) of Sandy Springs, GA; brother Glenn and Gregory (Nancy) of Naples, Kenneth of Dallas, GA and Richard (Lynda) of Norton, OH; many nieces, nephews and lots of cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Sally Roark.

Graveside services with military honors will the Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 11:00 at Naples Memorial Gardens.

have a memory or condolence to add?

Greta and I are truly saddened by Gary’s passing. He was such a wonderful man, and had such a great sense of humor. A few times I had Gary fix some plumbing problems at our house. Afterward, if his schedule allowed, we would sit on the patio and have a beer (or two). We would try to outdo each other with jokes. He always won. He will be missed.

Sending prayers and loving prayers for you all. Sincere sympathy for the loss of Gary. He fought a good battle and without a doubt will be looking over each one from above.
