Son of the late Dr. Alfred and Nancy (Thomas) Zangrilli. Brother to the late Dr. Alfred Zangrilli (Mary Zangrilli).
After graduating Central Catholic Highschool (Pittsburgh, PA), Lebanon Valley College and Thomas Jefferson Medical School, James served in the US Army, Korean conflict. Following in his late father’s footsteps he had a successful medical practice, founder of the South Pittsburgh Urologic Practice. Additionally, James was the Medical Director of Central Medical Center Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. James was member of several medical associations.
When not working, and in retirement, James was an avid golfer (South Hills Country Club in Pittsburgh, PA and Pelican Marsh in Naples, FL), gin rummy player, and pianist. He loved good Italian food and wine; good music from jazz to opera, and a good joke. Always a gracious host, James taught everyone around him how to be kind, generous and enjoy life.
Husband to Lucretia (Orlando) Zangrilli, his beloved wife for 60 years. Beloved father to Dr. James Zangrilli Jr. (Marc Hurowitz), Anthony Zangrilli (Kathryn Connors), Adam Zangrilli and Janine Zangrilli. Beloved grandfather to Anthony Zangrilli Jr, Sam Zangrilli and Joseph Zangrilli. Uncle and great uncle to a large extended family of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 9:30 AM followed by 10:00 AM mass at St. William Church. Private burial Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, if you wish to honor James, the family suggests a donation to the American Heart Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
