Jay was born on July 3, 1933 in Bemidji, Minnesota to the late Jonnie and Jay Olson. He graduated from Edina High School in Minneapolis and Dartmouth College with a BS in Economics. Jay's greatest joy was his family. He married Kathlyn "Lyn" Lyon, the love of his life, on September 4th, 1954. They have three children, Nancy, Jay III and Chip. For 68 plus years, he devoted his life to his family and their well-being. Jay was a gentle man with a heart of gold. He was always smiling and present to provide a laugh or helping hand. He enjoyed traveling, tennis, golf, skiing, fishing, and The NYT crossword puzzle, but was happiest spending time with Lynie. His gift of love, laughter and joy of family will be forever missed.
Jay began a very successful business career in NYC with Continental Can Company and then rose to become CFO and President of several Fortune 500 companies. Following their move to Naples, Jay began a second career in financial services with Raymond James. He became a trusted advisor to numerous high net worth individuals and condo associations throughout Collier County.
Jay is survived by his wife, Lyn, three children, six grandchildren - Lauren, Chris, Sarah, Kathlyn, Charlie and Hunter (who lovingly called him "Bear Bear"), four great grandchildren and his sister Jeanie Brooks.
A private graveside ceremony will be held.
