Jean K. McCarthy

years old, passed away peacefully

on February 3rd, 2014.

She was preceded in death by

her husband, Joseph H. Mc-

Carthy, Jr. just five months prior.

She leaves behind her five

children, Timothy McCarthy

(Cindy) of Woodstock, VT,

Maureen McCarthy of New

York, NY, Barbara Blue (Greg)

of Tampa, FL, Richard McCarthy

of Naples, FL and Joseph

H. McCarthy III (Kimberly) of

Kinnelon, NJ as well as six

grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

Born in Rockville Center,

Long Island, NY, the youngest

of six, Jean graduated from

Harcum Junior College, Bryn

Mawr, PA, majoring in merchandising.

She worked at

Best & Co. of NYC as a model

and salesperson before meeting

Joe through her brother, Dick

Ryan. Joe, in the war with

Dick, asked if he had any sisters

not married to whom he

could write. Jean and Joe

started communicating by letters.

When Joe came home,

they met, fell in love and were

married soon after.

Jean easily made friends and

her warmth and generosity

were evident to all who met

her. She was a loving and

dedicated mother to her five

children. She enjoyed golf and

was a huge ballet enthusiast.

She especially loved the beach

and would always be seen

swimming in the ocean at

Short Beach, CT, Jones Beach,

NY, Barneget Light, NJ, Chatham,

MA and Naples, FL. She

will truly be missed by all who

knew her, her tremendous energy

and love.

The funeral and Life Celebration

will be announced at a later

time. Service information to
