Joseph was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 27, 1938. He went to Collinwood High School and afterward began his career as a Cleveland firefighter where he demonstrated selfless bravery. He received commendations for bravery in the line of duty. He also became a realtor and helped many buy and sell their homes, both in the Cleveland area and in Naples, Florida. Joseph spent his final years in Naples, Florida with his beloved wife, LeeAnn Holan, (nee Tankovich). He loved his dogs Gigi and Josie (both dec) and more recently, Princess. He was passionately dedicated to AA, loved to golf, and enjoyed the Florida sun. He loved to cookout for friends and family and loved his Sunday chicken and dumplings dinners. He was generous to his friends and family and loved by many. If you knew Joseph, you were sure to hear the same jokes over and over again; the fact that he was telling the same old jokes again was funnier than the jokes themselves.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elizabeth (nee Halloran) Holan, his brothers Frank (Carol), and Arthur (Myrna) and his sisters Georgene Scott (David) and Eleanor DiLalla (Ronald), and his stepdaughter Darlene Wetzel.
Joseph is survived by his wife LeeAnn Holan (Tankovich); his daughters Christine Schneider (John), Cali Kruty (Michael) and Lorraine Young (Stephen); LeeAnn’s four children; his grandchildren Clinton Harbor, Danny Quercioli, Tommy Quercioli, Michael Kruty and LeeAnn’s 11 grandchildren, his great-grandson Skyler and LeeAnn’s 5 great-grandchildren.
Joseph will be cremated at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Garden. He will be buried at All Souls Cemetery, 10366 Chardon Rd, Chardon, OH 44024 at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Meet at Section 4, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Mausoleum. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be announced at a later date.
