Margaret was born in Orange, New Jersey on May 2, 1929 to Gaspare and Anna Gabriele. She married the love of her life, Raymond Montecalvo, on May 4, 1952 in Orange. In 1965, Margaret and Raymond, with sons Robert, Ray, and Richard, moved to Englishtown, New Jersey. Margaret worked as a homemaker; a sales associate for S. Klein Department Stores in East Brunswick, New Jersey; and as a member of the Food Services Department for the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District.
In 1994, Margaret moved to beautiful Naples so that she could be close to her boys and grandchildren. There wasn’t a holiday, a baseball game, a dance recital, or a celebration that Margaret was not a central part of. She truly was the matriarch of the family and for many of her extended family of friends, she was simply “Grandma.”
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, her parents, Gaspare and Anna, and her sister, Catherine Brady.
Margaret is survived by her three sons, Robert, Ray (Cathy), Richard (Dawn) Montecalvo, all of Naples, Florida; five grandchildren, Gabrielle Pantages (William) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Christina Montecalvo of Dallas, Texas, Alec Montecalvo of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Emma Raye Castronovo (Conor) of Fort Myers, Florida, John Montecalvo of Naples, Florida; one great-grandson, Bennett Pantages; a brother, Casper Gabriele of Pembroke, Massachusetts; a sister, Anne Berkowitz of Manchester, New Jersey; and many loved and adored nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Hodges Funeral Home, 525 111th Avenue N, in Naples. Burial will follow at Naples Memorial Gardens at Hodges Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 10:00 am.
