I was lucky to meet Marvin and Harriet 5 years ago. When they came back to Ft Wayne over the summer from Naples I rented him a car for the summer. On a couple of occasions while I was giving him a ride to get the car I was fortunate to engage in deep conversations. Always a smile and a kind word. Even a couple of jokes along the way. Marvin had a way of making a person feel better about themself. You will greatly missed but know that you left a deep impression in me. God bless you Harriet and the family

I have fond memories from working with Marvin as we developed the structure for ownership and financing of the Grand Wayne Center. I recall him always smiling and being such a kind person. I am very glad his terribly difficult youth turned out so well for him.

Marvin and Harriet, were among our first visitors to our new home in Brooklyn 48years ago. They are among Sandy’s favorite cousins and we were happy to be with them at a good number of family Simchas. Our memories of Marvin are very warm and wonderful. He was a towering spirit in all he gave to so many. This tribute to him is very informative and meaningful. He is remembered with great respect and affection by our family.

Harriet, Jeff and Steve,

Please accept my condolences for your loss. Marvin was not just my boss early in my career, but was a mentor in every sense of the word. He then became my law partner, and he always was a guiding beacon of reason and optimism throughout the years. Of course, he became my very good friend as well, and my wife and children cherished him. I remember him asking my children to do math problems for him  and he would give them a quarter for each right answer. They loved going to the office on weekends to see "Grandpa Crell!"

Marvin was one of the nicest and kindest people I’ve ever known. He helped me in so many ways throughout the 30 years that I had the pleasure to know him. All his help on work and family issues will never be forgotten. Fort Wayne has lost a treasure and I’ve lost one of my best friends. Harriet my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Stay strong.

My condolences to the family.  I enjoyed working with Marvin.  One of my fondest memories is when I gave him a ride from a firm retreat to his son, Steve's home.  We had a great talk and discussed how long I had been with the firm.  We both said if it's over tomorrow, It has been a good ride.  Marvin always took pictures at our holiday parties so he could look through them and see how the firm had changed.  He and Fred Tourkow taught me about Judaism.  He raised two wonderful sons who will carry on the traditions and tenderly care for their mother.

I met Marvin for the first time in early 2017, when he and Harriet joined Naples Jewish Congregation (NJC) in Naples, Florida.  First, as Membership Chair, and then as President, I had the privilege of getting to talk to Marvin and Harriet when they would attend services and events, such as Passover Seders and Chanukah Dinners.  Marvin was a gentle and kind man, who had an understated  presence and who lived and led by example.  Although he faced almost insurmountable challenges in his youth, he not only met but overcame them to live an exemplary life, full of caring for and helping others.  If we are judged by how we touch others, Marvin is and will be remembered well.  I tried to keep in touch with Marvin and Harriet by phone when his health took a turn for the worst.  I never heard bitterness from Marvin, just a profound sense of gratitude for being able to live a full and rich life.  Marvin will be missed by his NJC family.        We met Marvin and Harriet after they bought the home across the road from us at Lake Wawasee.  We enjoyed having street cocktail parties with them. I would bring the food and Marvin would captivate everyone with his amazing stories. Always gracious and humble.  It was a privilege to have been lucky enough to share the time we had as neighbors. Greg and I will miss him.

I worked at Marvin's law firm for 20 years and always enjoyed interacting with him.  He was a fine gentleman and will be missed. 


I had only met Marvin maybe a couple times but I remember visiting him with Jacob and the family at their lake house. We were having dinner one night and Marvin shared a story that I will never forget. I was sitting amongst people who knew him their entire lives while he told a story that none of them had heard before. It was a truly amazing experience to hear how everyone was learning something new about him.

When our son, David Bradshaw, was an infant at Riley Hospital way back in 1959, Marvin unselfishly offered to drive to Indianapolis to be a live blood donor for his surgeries.   So typical of this loving, caring man.  Heartfelt sympathies to you, Harriet.

Marvin was a very humble and kind man. I enjoyed working with him and for him back in the early 90's.  He taught me so many things about elder law, wills, trusts, etc. He was full of knowledge. My condolences to his family and many friends. Heaven gained another Angel for sure. RIP Marvin, Esq.
