

Mary Louise Felter Nadeau, 86, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, in Naples, FL, on July 24, 2014. Marylou was born in Jamestown, NY on July 1, 1928 to Durand Felter and Helen Olson. Mary moved with her family; brothers Jim and Jack and sister Janet, to West Springfield, MA. She graduated high school there and went to Boston, MA, graduating from the University of Massachusetts Forsythe Dental School in 1949.
In Boston she met the love of her life, Robert Emile Nadeau, who had returned from service in the US Navy, having served in Europe and the Pacific. They were married on June 17, 1950 in West Springfield, MA. Bob and Marylou lived in Bennington, VT from 1952 to 1966 where sons Robert and Dwight were born. In the fall of 1966 the family migrated south and settled in Naples.
Mary gave her life to God through her 47 year dedication to the Moorings Presbyterian Church. She was in the choir for 32 years, a Bible study teacher, a Deacon and an Elder, mentor and spiritual adviser to many.
In addition Mary was a member and supported these organizations. Naples Garden Club, Royal Poinciana, Naples Christian Woman's Club, Naples Christian Academy, Hillsdale College President's Club, Naples Philharmonic, Naples Players, International Woman's Club and Naples Sailing Club.
Bob and Marylou traveled the world together exploring from the Pacific to Europe. Together they attended over fifty Elderhostels and enjoyed over thirty cruises. The highlight of her journeys was spending her 80th birthday at the Wailing Wall in Israel.
Mrs Nadeau is survived by her sons, Robert D. Nadeau and Dwight H. Nadeau and his wife Cathy, of Naples. Also surviving is daughter Judith N. Schumacher of West Palm Beach, FL, and grandchildren Robert and Bailey. Her brothers, Jim and Jack also survive.
Mrs Nadeau was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Robert Emile Nadeau in 2011, and sister Janet F. Smith in 2014.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 11 AM in the sanctuary of Moorings Presbyterian Church, 791 Harbour Drive, Naples, FL.
