At 9:25 am Tuesday December 2nd of this week Mitzi Francis left her material shell that was failing her and the cause of great pain for years. She will be painfully missed. While there is sadness, her spiritual return home is celebrated. She valiantly fought her struggle with cancer for far much longer than anyone could have predicted, which is not surprising to those that knew her and her zest for life. To call her a fighter would not give due justice to her strong character and will power. She was a loving wife of Phillip “Mick” Francis for 61 years and is also survived by her sister Vicki Henderson, 5 children, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Mitzi was born in Cumberland, KY and traveled the world as an Army wife before relocating to Naples in 1979. Assignments included Alaska, New Mexico and Turkey, where she became fluent in Turkish. Additionally, she was a successful Real Estate agent, who had numerous Letters to the Editor published in Naples Daily News and was known for her patriotic viewpoints. Among her many interests in life was music and she had a natural ability playing the piano, as well as the oboe. Mitzi was also a proud author of four books. Her survivors include;
Sister Vicki (Frank) Henderson
Children: Rick (Nancy) Francis, Sherry (Eric) Yoder, Terry (Clif) King, Tom (Carolyn) Francis and Brian Francis.
Grandchildren: Michele Yamamoto, Jesse Foutch, Candace Capellini, Laura Johnson, Phillip Francis, Amanda Francis, Holly Francis and Adam King
Great grandchildren: Anna Grace Foutch, Olivia Foutch, Louisa Capellini, Michael Yamamoto, Mary Capellini, Clair Foutch and Sherry Yamamoto
