

Pat (Blackman) Genick was born and raised in Royal Oak, MI with her Mom Dad and older brother Charles and sister Joyce. When she was 15 her father died, and she moved to she moved to Highland Park with her mother. She graduated high school and attended Highland Park and junior college before moving on to Wayne University and the University of Michigan earning a BS and master’s in education and a special ED certificate.
She was married to Ray Genick in 1957 and taught 2nd and 3rd graders J.O. and Highland Park before embarking on an overseas teaching with the US Navy Dept. She taught first in Argentia, Newfoundland where her first son Raymond Martin was born. She went n to Naples, Italy for 3 more years. Her second son Jeffrey Scott was born there. She enjoyed visiting many countries dinner parties and met many wonderful people. When she returned to the U.S. she taught for 29 years in Birmingham, MI as a special ED teacher and a reading consultant for almost every grade level 2-12th.
She and her husband welcomed their son Thomas Marc during this time. She retired from teaching in Birmingham and went on to teach education courses at the University of MI for 4 years as well as writing a textbook for teachers in 1997 published by Simon and Schuster.
In 2002 she moved to Naples, FL and lived there until her passing. She enjoyed singing as a soloist in many choirs: Civic light Orchestra in Detroit and Naples Orchestra and Chorus. She is survived by her loving sons Raymond Jeffrey and Thomas. She was lovingly cared for by Jeffrey in her last years and also frequently cared about and was in constant contact with Raymond and Thomas. She is also survived by her 4 nieces Connie, Cathie, Debbie and Barbie. As well as her nephews John Bob and Chuck. She missed he beloved sister in the last years of her life and was very close to her daughters.
Pat will be missed by many.
