Raymond “Scott” Barnett, of Naples Florida, passed away peacefully at the age of 65 after a long battle with cancer on March 11th, 2022 surrounded by his family. Scott was born July 28th, 1956 in Lewistown, Pennsylvania to his parents Raymond and Anna Margaret Barnett.
Scott graduated from Naples High School and then earned his AA degree at Edison Community College. Afterwards he attended the University of South Florida. He worked for the Collier County Sheriff’s Department in many different capacities. He was proud to hold the record of one of the largest marijuana busts (21 tons) in Collier County, which he achieved as a rookie. He brought the AFIS to Collier County and served as an advisor for Florida on the fingerprint identification system, known as Rapid-ID. He also worked in Burglary Division, Youth Relations, and lead the Dive Team for many years. He retired as a Captain but was primarily known as LT.
Scott is survived by his wife Sheri Barnett, his daughter Christina Falcon and her husband Timothy Falcon, his parents Raymond and Anna Barnett, his brother Matt Barnett, his sister Kelly Barnett, his brother and sister-in-law Randy and Nadine Riner, his nieces Anita Riner and Kayla Barnett, and several grand nephews and nieces including Tyler, Wyatt, and Willow.
His services will be held at 1:30 pm, April 2nd, 2022, at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Garden.
