Sorry to hear about this tragedy. I had met Robert several times while lodging at his properties and also doing business together. My thoughts & prayers are with his friends and family.

Dad, I often think this is all a crazy nightmare. You'll walk through the door any day now .. I can't even believe I will never see you again. I feel like my heart has broken into a million pieces without you. I don't sleep at night because the tragedy replays over and over again in my head. Words can't even get close to describing how much I miss you every second of every day that I have to live without you. You were my hero, my role model, my #1 everything. Unfortunately we haven´t seen each other since my wedding 15 years ago. We are so very saddened by the news of Roberts death. We knew him because for a time he was the step father to our granddaughter, Jessica Dudley. She thought the world of Robert and spoke lovingly of him always. The world has lost a very good person, and certainly a well loved and respected man. I first met Robert shortly after he moved to Naples from Orlando. I had the privilege to work along side him for about a year or so.  He and Lesley were busy planning their wedding, shopping for a new home, and looking forward to life together. I remember the day he came in to work and announced they were expecting a baby. I have many great memories and in all he was wearing a smile. Today I remember a friend who was kind, generous, and compassionate. A friend who will be greatly missed.

Uns hat die schreckliche Nachricht von Roberts Tod gerade erreicht und zutiefst getroffen.
Auch wenn wir in den letzten Jahren wenig Kontakt hatten und es oft bei einem Geburtstagsgruß oder Weihnachtswünsche per E-Mail oder Facebook geblieben ist waren unsere Gedanken oft bei Robert und seiner Familie. Ich habe meinem Sohn häufig von unseren gemeinsamen „Abenteuern“ und verrückten Unternehmungen erzählt und ich weiß, das hat Robert auch bei seinen Kindern getan.
Wir haben uns schon auf ein Wiedersehen im Oktober gefreut und wollten während unseres Florida-Urlaubs in Naples kurz vorbeischauen, nicht zuletzt damit sich unsere Kinder endlich einmal kennen lernen. Und jetzt diese schreckliche Nachricht. Wir können es immer noch nicht fassen!

Our relationship was forged though the Boy Scouts of America; we wanted to raise out boys with the with the values scouting offers. With a passion to be actively involved with his sons, he became a scout leader and not only mentoring Jonathan & Dominic, but was a positive influence for all the scouts in our troop and his cub scout pack. When he spoke about Jennifer, you could see the sparkle in his eye. His love of his family, friends and life, brought that something special into all our lives. I will always count him as a blessing to have him as a friend and fellow scouter. God please take care of him, till we meet again. My sincere prayers go out to Lesley, Jonathan, Jennifer & Dominic. Our hearts are broken! Broken for all of you, broken for his kids, broken for all of us, his friends, and broken for Robert. Robert, although a quiet and gentle man, LOVED life, loved having fun, loved being silly, loved experiencing all the things that life had to offer. Whether it was jumping on a train in Europe with his buddy in his teens, dressing up silly for occasions, blowing up huge fireworks on New Years, having the joy of teaching young kids values or simply how to tie a knot, Robert did it all with the greatest enthusiasm. It was enjoyable just to watch him. For this, we are so incredibly sad, that he was shorted more of these things he loved to do.
