A loving husband, brother, son, uncle and friend, Bill will be fondly remembered for his charismatic presence, contagious smile, and endlessly generous spirit.
Born on January 1, 1941, in Leominster, Bill was the beloved son of Gardner and Ruth Drury and brother to Peter Drury, all of whom have preceded him in death. Growing up in Leominster, he was known by all as a “genuine good guy”—thoughtful, friendly, compassionate, and always ready with a big, perfect smile and a twinkle in his eye.
Bill’s early years were filled with achievement and camaraderie. He graduated from Leominster High School, where his natural charisma and athletic prowess earned him many lifelong friendships and a place on the football team. His love for the game carried on when he played as an elite football player during his years of proud service in the United States Marine Corps, a commitment he regarded as both an honor and a privilege.
Following his military service, Bill chose a path of dedication and loyalty, working his entire career at Simonds Saw & Steel Co. in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. His colleagues remember him as someone who brought warmth and integrity to the workplace every single day—always the first to lend a hand, share a story, or lighten the moment with his signature grin.
Perhaps Bill’s greatest joy was the life he shared with his beloved wife, Cheryl. Their marriage of 48 years was marked by deep companionship, shared adventure, and laughter. Whether traveling, spectating at NASCAR races, basking in the sunny outdoors, or marveling at the excitement of Las Vegas shows, Bill was happiest with Cheryl by his side. Together, they enjoyed good food, great conversation, and the simple pleasure of being in each other’s company.
A man of many passions, Bill was known for his love of football, his enthusiasm for travel, and his penchant for gathering friends and family around to share stories or enjoy a meal. He relished dining out, soaking up the Florida sunshine, and especially treasured time spent with loved ones. Bill was a conversationalist by nature, always curious, always attentive, and made everyone feel heard and valued.
Bill’s life was defined not just by what he accomplished, but by the kindness and humor he brought to every room. His generosity, friendly demeanor, and unmistakable charm ensured that he left every encounter just a little bit brighter.
A service to remember and honor Bill’s remarkable life will be held on August 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, with columbarium inurnment and military honors to follow.
Those who knew and loved Bill Drury are invited to celebrate his legacy of warmth, laughter, and genuine good cheer—he will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
