William, or simply ‘Bill’ as most knew him, was a gentle soul with a warm heart and a twinkle in his eye. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, he was the kind of man who made people feel at home with his easygoing nature and playful sense of humor. He had a gift for playful teasing, countless ‘Dad’ jokes, and will be remembered for his smile often beginning with his eyes, soft-spoken polite nature, and bear-hugs.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Beryl Redmond, and his children: William Redmond (Madeline), Sean Redmond (Debbie De Sousa), Rodney Wormell (David Willis), and Tammy Wormell. William was proud of his four grandchildren who brought him endless joy: Ashley, Aiden, Ethan, and Liam.
He is also survived by his sister Deborah Jones, sister-in-law Judy Redmond, and former spouse Janis Burton who, along with his entire family, stood by him with love throughout his life and final journey.
William is predeceased by his parents William Joseph Redmond (1956) and Dorothy Redmond (1994), brother Michael (2013), and nephew Paul Redmond (2025).
William faced Parkinson’s disease with courage, grace, and composure, despite the many challenges it brought. His strength of character, gentle spirit, and love for those around him never wavered. The Redmond family would like to sincerely thank the nurses and personal support workers of Avow Hospice and Adviniacare Naples for their gentle and compassionate support.
Throughout his decades long career, Bill knew how to make mainframe computers perform magic for companies and their customers, both in Canada and the United States, was well liked and respected by his peers, and routinely shared his knowledge to enable others to carry on his legacy.
A private family gathering will be held to honor his life and legacy in the months to come. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in his memory to a Parkinson’s research or a charitable organization of your choice.
William’s laughter, love, and steady unifying presence will continue in the hearts of all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy not only in name, but in the kindness he showed, the comfort he gave, and the quiet strength he carried.
