Ann Irwin

Ann McCarty Irwin passed away on March 30, 2025, at the age of 81. She was born on April 5, 1943, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Ann graduated from Fortier High School. She worked as an administrative secretary at Ochsner Hospital, where she ultimately retired.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 59 years, Horace Lynn Irwin Jr.; daughters Donna Irwin and Karen Milliken (David); sons Kevin Irwin Sr. (Chauntell) and David Irwin (Paula); grandchildren Kevin Irwin (Macie), Chelsea Schwall, Brett Schully (Victoria), Taylor Imbraguglio, Kayle Irwin, Justin Irwin, James Irwin, Cody Milliken (Sarah), and Daven Milliken; and great-grandchildren Caroline Milliken, Sadie Milliken, Hudson Milliken, Greyson Schully, Amelia Schully, Gianna Imbraguglio, Tate Schwall,and Juliette Schwall.

She is also survived by her sister Dolores Hart (Verlon), as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milford Jasper and Valance Manfield McCarty, her sister Dorothy Portera (Vincent), and her brother John Hryniewich (Sue).

Ann had a deep passion for animals and was a dedicated member of the Deep South All-Breed Training Club of Greater New Orleans, Riverside West Kennel Club of Louisiana and Boxer Club of Louisiana. She taught obedience and was actively involved in pet therapy, bringing comfort and joy to others by visiting schools and VA nursing homes with her beloved dogs. Ann was a devoted wife to Lynn, always supporting him in his JPRD coaching and assisting with the many tasks behind the scenes. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, Saturday, April 12, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10am with a service to follow at 12pm. Immediately after service, Ann will be laid to rest in Lake Lawn Park.
