August Carl Krinke

Gus was the son of the late August A. and Ismay Jourdan Krinke; he was the beloved husband of Jeanette Bertin Krinke, and the former husband of Joy Hocke North; father of Jessica Bean (James) and Jennifer Moreau (Keith); step-father of Kendra Baehr Haims; grandfather of Ismay Rose Moreau, Ciara Moreau, James Bean, III (Tripp), Benjamin Haims, Samuel Haims, Erica Clement, and Caroline Baehr; great-grandfather of Olivia Clement; brother of Pauline Krinke Kirwin; and uncle of Barbara (Missy) Kirwin and Sonia Alverez.

Gus was born in New Orleans on March 13, 1945, and was a graduate of St. Francis of Assisi School, Class of 1958, and a proud graduate of Redemptorist High School, Class of 1962. He continued his education at Loyola University, Class of 1971, where he received a B.A. in Criminology.

Gus was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he reached the rank of Sergeant. His career with the New Orleans Police Department spanned over 30 years of service to his community, and retired as Sergeant.

He was a dedicated member and leader to various organizations around New Orleans. He was member and Past President of Fraternal Order of Policy (FOP) CCL#2 with over 50 years of membership. He served 17 years on the State Board of Directors as Recording Secretary for Louisiana State Lodge FOP; a member of the Police Mutual Benevolent Association, and served on the Board of Directors as Recording Secretary. He was also the administrator for New Orleans Police Pension System. Gus was a recipient of the FOP Willie Patin Lifetime Achievement Award.

Gus was a member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post 307, the Albert Pike Lodge 376 F&AM, the Deutsch’s Haus in New Orleans, and member of the T.A.K. (Tap Another Keg Fraternity) from Redemptorist High School.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 2402 33rd Street in Kenner, Louisiana, on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 12:30PM. The visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:30AM. The interment will be private. A celebration of life will take place following the Mass.
