Aurora Caravella Jones

Aurora Mary Caravella Jones, age 88, passed away May 27, 2016 in Kenner, Louisiana. Born on January 2, 1928 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Aurora attended St. Mary’s Dominican High School. Music was a passion in her life. She studied classical piano and voice with Madame Grippone and was a Coloratura soprano. She also enjoyed dancing, floral design, and gardening. She was a member of Our Lady of Divine Providence Choir, Saint Philip Neri Choir, and Lynn Park Garden Club. Aurora is survived by her children Petra Andregonika Jones Geerken (Chip), Waddy June Jones Salomon (Lavalle), Michael Fuller Jones (Bridget), an Christopher Jospeh Jones (Vlada); grandchildren Aaron Salomon (Jennifer), Rebecca Salomon Andrews (Josh), Elizabeth Jones, Matthew Jones, Maria Belinschi, Vladimir Jones; great grandchildren Emma Salomon, Harper Salomon, Dylan Salomon, and Molly Andrews. She is preceded in death by her husband Waddy Fuller Jones, parents Maude and Joseph Caravella, brother Joseph Caravella, Jr., and sister Gloria Caravella Fontana Wiley. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124. Interment will follow at Hope Mausoleum. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Monsignor Harry Bugler will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to Saint Phillip Neri Church, 6500 Kawanee Avenue, Metairie, LA 70003 (504)887-5535; and Our Lady of Divine Providence Church, 1000 North Starrett Rd, Metairie, LA 70003 (504)466-4511. A repast will be held following the services at 4160 Beaune Drive, Kenner, LA 70065.
