Happy heavenly birthday to my good friend Betty who passed. I know the angels and the saints are welcoming u to a heavenly birthday.....  She was one of a kind,always ready to go out and loving her beautiful cats.  They will miss u like I am.  I know we will see each other again one day.

I am so sorry to hear of Betty’s passing.  The visit I had with her and stayed in her home will always remain a fond memory.  Prayers for the family.

This special lady will be missed, my 2nd “ma”.    Did she ever reach her 50th birthday?  I could not figure out how we passed her up with birthdays.  😊.   I’m going to miss spending our birthday together eating Chinese food.  Wherever will I park my car when going on my out-of-town adventures?  No matter how long we were apart, when I just got too busy to visit, she would fill in the days, months, years in just one 2hour visit! 😳. Gumbo and chicken salad will never taste the same.  

I’m so terribly sorry that I could not make her celebration of life but I will celebrate your life always.   Thank you Ma for treating  me like one of your own and like Dale said, allowing me to spoil you even if it was only 1 or 2 days a year.

She would be mad right now seeing that her obituary gives away her true age for all to publicly see and know as she would often pretend to be much younger and get away with it.  Let’s all keep it our secret. 
My mom was so special. People just wanted to be around her, and she loved it. She was one of a kind.  She will have to live on in our memories and hearts for now until we meet up in heaven.

The roles had somehow reversed.  She loved it so much she would insist we treat her here and there and buy her this and that. She basically became like a spoiled child, and we loved it.  Payback to mom out of love. We get to and not have to. What a blessing. 
 In later years my mother loved her independence and freedom of living alone in her own house and having her own car gave her a sense of freedom and independence.  She would love to drive to the nearby grocery store several times a week, it was a nice outing for her.  She was still driving although short distances at 80 years old and would also cut her rear yard grass herself at this age.  She was a pepper and loved life.  
She loved herself and loved when she was often told her beautiful her skin looked.  She would use skin moisturizers and that kind of stuff and was proud of how she looked and would compare herself to others.  She enjoyed doing selfies of herself.      
She also loved jewelry, but not the real stuff but mostly custom jewelry and crosses, rings, bracelets, etc.
She could shop all day and buy nothing or little because it was about the experience and not just having the item.   Even though she had been to the same place many times prior she still shopped for long as though she had a new experience each time.
She surprisingly on her own embraced phone technology texting and picture sharing. Although she did not have a Facebook page of her own, she would use her daughter in laws to stay caught up on what others were posting and doing.  She loved to always be in the know.        
Michelle, her daughter- in -Law was also like a daughter to her and Betty was also like a mother to her as well.    They would talk almost every day if not every day. There was such an inseparable bond between those two like best friends.  She will be so missed by Michelle.

My mom would tell me stories of how when she was a child of how in the country she would be chased by the cows and the roasters every time she went to the outhouse (outdoor bathroom).  She would scream for her mom as she said they would block the door of her getting out once she was in.  She was scared of them, and the animals knew it and would chase her.  We would always laugh when she would tell us the story every time. 
 She was born and raised in a small country town. She often told us she felt as though she was not meant to be in the country and felt like she was supposed to be in the city.  A city girl rather than a country girl. When she got married at 19, she moved to the city and has been there ever since. She would travel and visit her parents on a very regular basis with her husband and her children from New Orleans. Until her parents passed. 
She often stated to us she was born in the Country but made of the country.  She was so happy and felt that the city is where she was supposed to be.   
Another childhood story of hers she would tell us is of how she would sneak under the house and would use a stick to push up the bathtub plug drain to release all the water in the old tub while her sister was using it, we would laugh and laugh. 
She said her and her friends tried the corn husk smoke thing and got caught by her sister and her sister would bribe her for a pack of chewing gum each week to not tell her mom. 
My mom would always make sure my sister and I would never go without and get to go on school field trips and outings with some money for things and would give us every penny she had in her wallet (which was not much) to ensure that we got to go and do things. I will never forget how she would sacrifice her wants and always put us before her wants.  However, when my sister and I got older she was then on the receiving end and loved it. Most recently she spent a great deal of time at home feeding her beloved two outside cats Tywin & Avia that would show up at her door early every morning and late every evening. They were now her new kids now had a new purpose to show that kitten and cat motherly love. 
Her desire was to never die and live forever as she loved life as she told us many times. Now she will actually live on forever in our hearts and memories and forever in heaven, that is her legacy, I’d say she got her wish, but she did have to pass on from here to live on forever. It’s thru God’s gift and Jesus’ sacrifice. 

She was a true storyteller and would love to be the first to tell the “juicy gossip” to those close to her. You just call her and say nothing and stay on the line and just listen as she would go on.   It was always interesting. I think at times the story would take longer as told by her that the actual event.  She would make it interesting. We will so miss that. 
She was such a giving person even when she didn't have much for herself at times.   Life is all about relationships. God gave her the gift of quickly forming and retaining relationships. She was loved by so many and will be forever missed.
She was also an incredible speller, Before the internet, Siri or google we would often call her on the phone as how to spell something. She always knew whatever word we threw at her. She probably would have won many spelling bees had she had the opportunity.
I her son (Dale) would call her every working night after midnight traveling home from work just to have her talk to me to keep me awake while driving crossing the Mississippi river over the big Crescent city connection bridge (Formerly known as the GNO).  She would insist on it for my safety and her concern for me driving late and tired. She was always there and available anytime day or night without complaints.   She would catch me up on everything thing going on with everyone and keep me awake as it was never boring, Cont-

Betty, My Mom was an extraordinary wonderful, loving nurturing person not only to myself and my sister but to everyone and anyone. She was truly a people person.  Oh my, she could talk and talk and was always so likable. She had such an incredible memory and forgot nothing ever. While being a single mother, she worked more than full time as a veterinary receptionist and assistant for over 30 years where she found her calling of attracting and retaining veterinary clients for her workplace due to her welcoming and kind personality. 
She never forgot a client’s /person’s name including their pets’ names off the top of her head. Even if it’s been several years, she could recognize their voice over the phone and say their name along with their pet’s name, they were most often amazed and astonished as she made them feel special like family.  
The clients would often share their personal stories about themselves with her as they trusted her so much and enjoyed their conversations. Betty (Mom) was once asked by her boss to take care of one of the in-house clinic black cats (Merlin) when needed to take care of over the weekend.  Merlin (the Cat) never made it back to the clinic; Betty claimed the cat as her own as she fell in love with Merle from the weekend visit.
In 2005, Hurricane Katrina ended our moms long time there as the veterinary building was severely damaged which led to the end her working years although the practice relocated later.  Since then, she enjoyed taking care of her yard and plants, spending more time with family & friends, shopping, vacations with family, dining out friends and family and off course spoiling her several cats over the years.  
She especially enjoyed tv shows like dateline, murder mysteries and she absolutely loved any movie that Media (Tyler Perry) was in. She enjoyed being driven around like Mrs. Daisy  - Continued

Betty & I worked together at my New Orleans veterinary practice for almost 30 years. She was my biggest asset and our clients loved her dearly. She was friendly and always made people feel welcome.  I had the utmost confidence in her ability & personality.  Even after Katrina most of the clients that followed me to Metairie always asked about her and expressed how much they loved & missed her.  She was one in a million and I loved her like family. RIP.

My mom , Paula Gremillion with Betty. They were good friends for over 40 years. Betty had many friends over the years, My mom was one of many  who were privileged to call Betty their friend.

You dancing at our wedding on October 10, 1992. Having a good time just like you always did. We  sure will miss all the fun parties at your house and how you always fed everyone and made them feel at home. We  will cherish all the wonderful memories you gave us forever. Rest in peace Betty 💕

The many nights we went passing by a certain house also the nights we went to clubs. We had many fun times together.
