Betty Bishop Parr

She was born in New Orleans on May 9, 1933 to Emmett and Della Bishop. She graduated Mt. Carmel Academy in 1951. She married Walter Henry Parr in 1952; they were married for 70 years.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a devout catholic and parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church and Shrine. Betty, Walter and their children lived overseas for five years in the 60's before returning to New Orleans.

In her later years, she and Walter traveled the nation in their RV and enjoyed seeing the national treasures with her children and grandchildren. Her children and family adored her. She cherished her role as the matriarch of a large family.

She is survived by daughters, Susan Mayoral and Jane Parr Elbaum; son, Charles William Parr; grandchildren, John Paul Mayoral, Elise Mayoral Lee, Stephanie Mayoral Armond, Jessica Elbaum, and Julia Elbaum; as well as great grandchildren, Linus Armond, Christian Lee, Braden Mayoral, Olivia Mayoral, Isabel Lee, Anabelle Lee, William Mayoral and Emery Mayoral.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 1 PM. Visitation will begin at 12 PM. A graveside service will follow in Lake Lawn Park.
