

Charles was born August 12, 1941, and reared in Radford, Virginia. He served in the US Army from 1959 to 1962 and graduated from Virginia Tech in 1966. Over the years, he worked for Graybar Electric, Wells Fargo, Honeywell and subsequently formed two successful businesses. He was especially proud of the resort that he and Dannie built in Eureka Springs, Arkansas on Beaver Lake.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Eula Goodwin; his sister, Anne Goodwin Meek Nelson; his first wife, Dianne Ward Goodwin; his brother William Goodwin; and his stepson, Reagan Gibson.
He is survived by his wife, Dannie Goodwin; his brother, Gary Goodwin; his two stepsons, Dana Gibson and Jeffrey Gibson; and his two grandsons Aidan and Owen Gibson.
He enjoyed sailing, photography, politics, and being a Grandaddy to Aidan and Owen. After retirement he became active in civic affairs. He was Treasurer and Director of Concerned Citizens of St. Tammany, Secretary and President of the Alarm Association of Louisiana, Chamber of Commerce board member in Eureka Springs, and president of three homeowner associations.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the atrium at Christwood Community Center in Covington, Louisiana on Thursday, July 10 from 2-4 p.m. where Dannie and Charles have enjoyed residing for the past three and a half years and have benefited from their friendship and support.
