

Carmen Rios Brown, age 65 teenage sweetheart and wife for 45 years to Steffen Brown died of complications following surgery on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Ocshner Foundation Hospital. Carmen was a lifelong resident and lover of New Orleans. She was born on May 3, 1949 to the late Carmen and Hesiquio Garcia Rios. She was survived by her husband Steffen Brown, her daughters Jennifer Brown and Emily Brown, her son John (Chris) Brown, her daughter-in-law Lisa Brown, her grandson Christopher (Eddie) Brown, her granddaughters Ashley Brown and Michelle Stretz and her great granddaughter Mya. Carmen was a graduate of Tour Infirmary School of Nursing and was a practicing RN for 30 years working at Touro, East Jefferson and Doctors Hospital and she truly loved taking care of people. Carmen will be missed by her many friends. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed terribly by her heartbroken family. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at St. Benilde Catholic Church, 1901 Division Street Metairie, La. on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until Mass time.
