I was so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I am sorry I was not able to travel for the services, but please know you all are in our prayers. Cousin Catherine was a lovely woman that devoted her life to her family. I know she was welcomed into heaven with open arms and I know my mom was there to great her! Find strength during this difficult time through prayer and being with family. Love you all and I hope to be cleared to travel that way soon.

Dear Karen and Ann,

My heart has been heavy since I heard the news.  I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. I am equally saddened that I could not be at her services nor with you in your grieving. Unfortunately, my ministry has me out-of-town at present. Your mother was a very special lady, and reminded me of my own mom in many ways.  They were both old-fashioned in their values, private in their personal lives, women of great faith, protective of their children, generous to a fault, and unwavering in their devotion and dedication to their husbands and children. I even think they somewhat resembled each other physically. I will never forget both your mom and dad following us closely as we pushed the bathtub through the streets of New Orleans. Both were always there for us throughout our many activities and lives. I know that her departure from this life, while best for her, will leave a huge vacuum in your lives. May you be consoled with the thought of Jesus lovingly embracing her after her years of goodness and fidelity, the great reunion it must have been when she saw your dad and grandparents again, and the joy y'all will experience one day when you see her in the Kingdom, the world that will not end (though hopefully without a bathtub to push!).  Y'all have my love and prayers.  Friends always...

Her sweet ways of showing her protective love for us girls as we grew up and went through our years of school at St James. My heart grieves for her family. Ms. Gebbia was a wonderful, smart, and kind woman. I knew her when I attended St. James Major High School with her daughters Anne and Karen, my friends. She was kind to give me a ride sometimes from school. I was so sorry to see this, she will be sorely missed. Her soul shined a light for all those she touched and will go on in them because she set such a wonderful example of what being an excellent mother and wife were. God bless her family as they morn for her, I will too. She was a very special lady, a gift to this world. Her gift (her spirit) will not die, and in all she touched, her example of whom she was will blossom forth in others. Her  memory and exemplary life of leadership will live in them. God bless her, and give her rest.

Ann and Karen,  My sister Patsy and I will always cherish those times on Saturday mornings when we went over to your grandparents' home on Odin St. to visit and play games with you and eat ice cream.  Your mother (my mother's first cousin) was an exceptional and caring woman.  I wanted to leave you with this writing - I don't remember where I got it from:

      "I am standing upon the seashore.  A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.  She is an object of beauty and strength.  I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

   Then someone at my side says:  There, she is gone!

   Gone where?

   Gone from my sight.  That is all.  She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

   Her diminished size is in me, not in her.  And just at the moment when someone at my side says:  There, she is gone!  there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout:  Here she comes!

   And that is dying."

I will always remember how  you never forgot  not one birthday are holiday. I will remember our phone conversations  and how we always kept in touch..

Dear Ann and Karen,

         My heart is heavy and I feel the loss of Miss Catherine so very deeply.  How many, MANY years we spent together!  Your Maw-maw and Paw-paw's home was a second home for me.  Your Mama was always so sweet, kind, and gentle.  Just the other day, I was thinking of your home on Spain Street, the one with the "doll house", and all the fun we had at your Aunt Mae's.  Such fond memories.

May Our Blessed Mother hold you both close to her Immaculate and Sorrowful Heart as you go through this sad and difficult time of missing your Mama.  As faithful Catholics, we know the  Paradise that awaits us.  You are in my prayers.

Catherine's passing leaves a hole in our lives.  She enriched us with her devotion to family, her exuberance in celebrations, and her commitment to Christ.   She lives in our hearts.

Ann & Karen: Remembering all the fun times we had at your grandparents' home: the birthday parties, playing bingo with you and Robin and our sweet moms at St. Raphael, going swimming.  

You are in our prayers and thoughts during this difficult time.  May you take comfort in your precious memories of your kind and loving mother.

Ann and Karen will always bring me back to the good ole days in Gentilly at St. Raphael School where fond memories exist.  Some of those memories include spending time at their grandparents' home after school and playing bingo with Mrs. Gebbia, my sweet Mother, sweet Mrs. Luna, the twins Mary and Marie Luna, Charmaine (my sister) and friends.  We always had so much fun together! We all were truly blessed to have such wonderful parents.  The sweet memories of Mrs. Gebbia's kind and loving heart will remain with us always. I am at a loss of words from hearing about the passing of Mrs. Gebbia.  There is great sadness in bidding farewell to our loved ones, specially our Moms, but we must rejoice in the comfort of knowing that they are no longer in pain, no longer suffering.

It was of great sadness to hear that your  Mama passed away. Mrs Gebbia and my mother spent a lot of time together, as Karen and I were attending St James.  They both kept their good eyes on us,watching and protecting us.  
 Mrs Gebbia was a wonderful, wife,mother and friend, undoubtedly she is now in the presence of God,reunited with her passed family members, and all of them,as well as my  Mom, will be watching after us from heaven.  May God give You the peace and serenity to  cope with this painful loss.

Ann and Karen, I was so sorry to hear about your loss. Your mother was such a sweet and thoughtful individual.  I have many fond memories spending time at your house and your grandparents.  Your entire family is in my thoughts and prayers. I understand your grief but always keep in mind that your mother is at eternal peace with your dad, Mr. Joe.
