Charles served in the United States Army and was later a cook for the V.A. and a bartender.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Miley McKenzie, Darnsella Pearson and Clester Williams; and a brother Wallace McKenzie.
He leaves behind his wife Esker J. McKenzie; daughters Katie Johnson and Denise (Tige)(Franklin), sons Stanley McKenzie (Pamela), Charles McKenzie Jr., Harold McKenzie (Joyce) and Larry McKenzie; sister Rosetta Cooper; a brother J.T. McKenzie; 13 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and Godchildren.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service to be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 1 p.m. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will take place at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum following the service in the chapel.
