Chris James Barbe

Chris James Barbe, age 73 of violet, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025 at his home with his wife and two sons at his side. He was born to the late, James Etienne Barbe and Mildred Cecile St. Romain Barbe on December 24, 1951 at Hotel Dieu Hospital. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ray Barbe, Iris Gonzales (Lionel) and Bertha Junda (Anthony). Chris is survived by his wife, Jeanne de Armas Barbe of 46 years, two sons, Christopher J. Barbe and Mathew J. Barbe, granddaughter, Ila Rose Barbe, his nieces, Bonnie Gonzales Wallace (Brian) and Jamie LeBlanc. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Chris worked for 45 years, mostly selling parts for semi-trucks. He served in the Navy Reserves for 6 years. Chris was a devout Catholic. He said the rosary daily and attended Mass. Chris was an usher at Our Lady of Lourdes in Violet for 25 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend services held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA on Friday, October 24, 2025. Visitation will be from 11:00AM until a memorial Mass begins at 1:00PM. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
