Christopher Thomas “Chris” Chocheles passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023 while surrounded by family at the far too early age of 48. He was born on December 6, 1974 in Metairie, LA to Peter (Pete) & Madeleine (Mandy) Chocheles.
Chris was the beloved husband of Josephine Parker (Jo Aline) Chocheles for 18 wonderful years and the amazing father of Parker Thomas for 15 years and Addison Adele for 11 years. He was the most loving brother of Susan Chocheles Panzavecchia (husband - John) and David Michael Chocheles (late wife Ashlie). Chris was the Godfather of his niece, Mallory E. Panzavecchia and proud uncle of Emily C. Panzavecchia, and Sophie G. Panzavecchia. He is preceded in death by both sets of his grandparents, Ted and Adele Meehen and Irwin and Ruth Chocheles. Chris was also the brother-in-law of Hillyer S. Parker (wife - Dawn) and son-in-law of the late William “Bill” Parker and Patricia (Pattie Jo) Pugh Parker. Chris also leaves behind their beloved fluffy dog, Paddington Bear.
After graduating Archbishop Rummel High School in 1993, he attended Loyola University where he received a B.S in Political Science in 1997. Chris then pursued his law degree and graduated from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at LSU earning a Juris Doctorate in 2000. Chris joined the law firm Sher, Garner, Cahill Richter, Klein & Hilbert, LLC in 2000 and was considered a brilliant attorney by staff and clients as a partner of the firm since 2008. He was also a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, Pi Kappa Theta Fraternity, and Krewe of Endymion. Chris was also a Parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi in New Orleans.
Those fortunate enough to know Chris often describe him as extremely generous, kind and hilarious. To say he was loved by everyone cannot be overstated. Chris was passionate about his family, his friends, his work and devoted 100% of himself to all of those things. His love of the New Orleans Saints and the law was never more evident than when he filed a motion to delay court proceedings that were going to take place the day after the NFC Championship. Chris knew full well the city would be celebrating and he was right. Luckily, the judge granted the motion and this was even referenced in a Sport Illustrated article about the Saints. His love of sports and music was well known and infectious to those around him. Chris came from a large family and was so dearly loved by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Chris was a loving father and husband, devoted son and brother, and a dear friend to so many. He could make you laugh as easily as he could surprise you with inciteful conversation. Chris will be dearly missed, but with us in our hearts and memories always.
Family and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass Service at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 631 State St, New Orleans, 70115 on Saturday August 5, 2023 at 12:00 PM with visitation from 10:00 AM until service time.
