Daniel Stateman Vincent Ricca

It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel Vincent "Stateman" Ricca announces his passing after a brief illness, on January 2, 2015, at the age of 67. He was an awesome husband, and best friend to Sally Bart Ricca for 32 years. Danny was dedicated to his children Shane (Michele) Ricca, Tara (Doug) LaFontaine, Brandi Ricca, Effie Chaisson, Carey Chaisson, and Sarah Nicholson, and his grandchildren Amanda Tanguis, Courtney Tanguis, Nicholas Ricca, Cody Chaisson, Chloe Kuhn, Logan Schroeder, Caleb Nicholson, Jacob Nicholson, and Grace Elizabeth Chaisson. He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Schulteis, Francis Bertucci and Cathy Bordelon. He is preceded in death by his brother Ricky Ricca, and their parents, Josephine Ricca and Fredrick Ricca. Danny grew up in the Broadmoor neighborhood and started working in his family's meat and grocery business at the age of 12. He graduated from DeLaSalle High School and attended USL and Loyola. Danny was a dedicated athlete -- running 7 marathons and many local races. When he wasn't running, biking or gardening, Danny was in the kitchen. He was THE "Hospitality King." Everyone was always welcomed to eat from his kitchen, especially the grandkids, or, he also delivered! Danny's strong faith and generous heart were an inspiration to the entire family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Funeral Mass on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, La. 70124.
