David “Dave” Frank Russo, born May 12, 1953, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the age of 72. Beloved husband of fifty-two years to Deborah Russo, loving father of Gregory (Annie), Jacob (Karla), and Julie (Joshua), and proud grandfather of Caroline, Caleb, Claire, David, Christian, Joseph, and Kate. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Emmett and Delores Russo and his siblings Robert “Bobby” Russo, Jerilyn Moore, and Diane Ladner
Dave, or “D” as he was known affectionately by his family and friends, was born in New Orleans and grew up in Kenner where he formed the KBAs with his neighborhood friends. He was a graduate of Archbishop Rummel High School and remained loyal to the Raiders throughout his life. He was a leader within the Rummel Alumni Association and was honored as the school’s first Alumnus of the Year in 2010. Dave built a long and fulfilling career in the truck leasing industry and prided himself on helping others achieve their business dreams.
The ultimate family man, Dave loved spending time with family and friends, especially if it involved a good meal. Dave loved to cook, and it was a hobby he passed down to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and was a regular at Campo’s Marina in Shell Beach for many years. He never met a stranger and always had a kind word for everyone. He treated his children’s spouses as his own children from the day he met them. Dave’s greatest accomplishment was his family, and he was extremely proud of all his children and grandchildren. He loved going to games, concerts, and dance recitals and telling everyone about how amazing his grandchildren were. He was devoted to his wife Deborah from the moment he met her in high school through every day of each of their fifty-two years together.
The Russo Family would like to thank Mrs. Renada Simmons and Mrs. Monique Brannon, as well as all of the staff of Peristyles for their kindness and care for Dave during the last years of his life.
A visitation for David Russo will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. to noon with a mass immediately following the visitation at noon.
