Dean was a graduate of St. Charles Borromeo High School and Southeastern LA College. He began his career as a teacher and disciplinarian at East Jefferson and Bonnabel High Schools. He then transitioned into a successful sales career beginning with International Harvester and retiring from Nalco Chemical Company after almost 30 years of service. Dean was a regular retreatant at Manresa House of Retreats in Convent, where he was a member of Group 39, having regularly attended retreats since 1985. He dedicated his time and love as a volunteer with East Jefferson General Hospital for nearly 20 years and during that time was honored as volunteer of the month.
Dean was a true family man, his joy was found in fishing and spending time in Grand Isle with family and friends, coaching his children playing sports, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, dance recitals, and other activities.
Dean was an avid Saints fan and was a season ticket holder for many decades, starting from their inaugural season. He was fortunate to have attended the Saints Superbowl victory in Miami. He loved sports of all kinds and was thankful to have attended the Masters in Augusta, Georgia. He loved gardening, tracking the weather, playing cards and board games with his children and grandchildren, trips to the beach, and had a zest for life until he was called home to be with the Lord.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 54 years, Jackie Griffin Angerdina, and their three children: Mark Angerdina (Tracey), David Angerdina (Eve), and Laurie Hoyt (Michael). Dean, known as Papa, leaves a lasting legacy through his grandchildren: Karly, Jackson (Serafina), Madeleine (fiancé Monty), Mia, Julian, Michael Jr., Kaitlyn, and Katherine.
