She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Marian Laing, her late husband John Joseph Voelkel III, husband Manuel Duvic, Jr., son John Joseph Voelkel IV, daughter Julie Deirdre Duvic.
She is survived by her daughter Susan Duvic and son James Duvic and wife Shawn, grandchildren Lathan David and Deirdre Dore’.
Deirdre graduated from Louis S. McGhee High School and Sullen’s College with a degree in Physical Education. She volunteered at the New Orleans Museum of Art for many years and also at the Friends of the Cabildo. Deirdre was President of Duvic’s Inc. She was a loving mother and grandmother as well as mother in-law.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, June 3, 2016. at 11:00am. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00am.
