Dennis Michael Casey Jr., 45, was taken from us far too soon on May 22, 2026. Born on February 2, 1981, in New Orleans, LA, he was the oldest child of Dennis Michael Sr. and Iris Jean Casey and the older brother to Kelly Jean. Dennis was the devoted and proud father to his three children, Dennis Michael III, Katherine Kelly, and Emma Marie.
Dennis grew up and resided in Bucktown until his passing. Raised on boats and the water, he learned early the values of family, hard work, and service to others. He proudly graduated from Archbishop Rummel High School in 2000, before entering the fire academy. Dennis joined the Eastbank Consolidated Fire Department in the Spring of 2002, and has dedicated the last 24 years of his life in service of Jefferson Parish. He was a member of Jefferson Parish Local 1374 Union. He was also a longtime member of LA-TF1 (Urban Search and Rescue). Dennis was not only a dedicated firefighter, but he was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing since early childhood. Dennis was a pillar in his community, and he leaves behind not only a distinguished professional legacy but also the enduring example of a life lived with purpose, tenacity, independence, and love.
Dennis is survived by his children Michael, Katherine, Emma and their mother, Kristin Wahl Casey; his father, Dennis Sr.; his sister, Kelly (Emery); his beloved cousins, who were more like sisters to him, Danielle Casey Dorsey and Katie Casey Brisbi; his grandmother, Audrey L. Casey; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and countless friends, whom he truly loved. Dennis was predeceased by his mother, Iris; his grandparents, Addis F. Casey Jr. (Jacklyn Casey), Florine S. Bullard, William Bullard (Mary Bullard) of Florida.
We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support we have received during this difficult time. Special thanks to the St. Angela Merici community and the Eastbank Consolidated Fire Department. We appreciate all of your prayers and support during this time - it has meant so much to us. His loss is being felt throughout our family, the fire department, and the entire community.
