

Dewey “The Dew” Parker, born on July 25, 1953, died on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 8:30AM at his residence in Hammond, Louisiana. He was a young “61” years of age. He is now peacefully enjoying Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird”. He was the son of the late Dalton and Maxine Parker. Beloved husband to Lynn Schaff Parker for 32 years. Loving father to Grace Miller (Jamie), and doting “Poppy” to his grandchildren, Christopher, Elizabeth, and Matthew “Red” Miller. Brother to Alvin Parker and the late Faye Cain. Uncle to Roberta Parker. Brother-in-law to Sandra Schaff Wright, Deborah Schaff Kramer (Dale), Louis P. Schaff, II (Stephanie), and the late Fabienne “Minnie” Schaff. Son-in-law to the late Louis M. “Big Daddy” and Grace Schaff. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately knew him as “The Big Dew”. Dewey was born and raised in Clinton, North Carolina, and moved to New Orleans in 1980 for work, and found “The Fox”. He loved listening to music, especially “Outlaw Country”. He also loved cooking for his family, and being outdoors on his Gator and John Deere. The Dew was a field supervisor with Eric G. Ryals, Inc., Oil and Gas Surveying. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 12:00 noon.
