Doris struggled for many years with Alzheimers and dementia. Her sudden decline after emergency surgery has been an immense shock to her entire family and many others who are profoundly saddened by her passing.
Doris was born into a family of 13 children, on January 17, 1944, in the small coastal city of Tela, Honduras. Her parents were Laureano Pinseau born in Iriona, Honduras, and Dorila Olivares of Santa Rosa de Lima, El Salvador. In this large and loving family, Doris was the sixth to be born. She was preceded in death by the eldest brother, Eduardo, and by Emicela, who died at a very young age, and by Jose Arnaldo, Roberto, Felipe, Efren and Orlando.
Her remaining siblings are Maria, Ondina, Melida, Sonia and Martin. She is survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and grandnephews and grandnieces in different countries.
Doris studied in Tela and received her mercantile and public accountant degree from the Triunfo de La Cruz Institute in 1969. She learned English at the local Episcopal School in Tela, Honduras, and received certificates from Banco Atlantida and Dale Carnegie.
Doris began her long and fruitful professional life by working as a teller at Banco Atlantida in Tela, and later moving to Tegucigalpa to work for Rio Lindo Textile Co. She had high work ethics and principles and believed in dealing honestly in all she did. After that, she worked as Executive Assistant to the chairman of the board of Creasman Electrical Contractors. She worked for them in the capacity of Office Manager since 1980, and it was this company that petitioned the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Office to transfer Doris to the head office in Easley, South Carolina.
She obtained approval for a Non Immigrant Visa from the U.S. Department of Justice in
1981. She worked for a few years in South Carolina before moving to New Orleans.
In New Orleans she attended Louisiana Technical College to become proficient in computer skills. She also studied Accounting at Delta College, and got her GED from John McDonogh HS.
She worked at Mckenzie Pastry as Data Entry Clerk, at Schwegmann Supermarket as accountant, at Maximum Healthcare, Pan American Life Insurance, Proyecto Ayuda as Immigration Clerk, and First American Mortgage Mitigation Company. During her professional life, she received many letters attesting to her good character and her ability for getting along well with others, and she obtained her U.S. Citizenship on June 18, 1997. She loved the water and being near to it, likewise she loved the mountains.
Her faith was firm and eternal. She was active in the Catholic community and believed stoutly in the Sacraments and their comfort. Doris was a Charismatic and sang in her church choir. She was passionate about helping to draw others to the faith and to the priesthood.
Doris loved people. She was warm and loving, and feisty, and her tiny frame belied the strength of her spirit and the infinite generosity of her heart. She loved her husband, her family, her community and countless others whose lives she so touched. She made a life for herself in New Orleans, in a different country, with resilience, determination and with grace.
She met her beloved husband on the MV Col. Frank X. Armiger, the Algiers Point ferry, where she took the ferry to go to work everyday for the First American Mortgage Mitigation Co., and where Michael was an engineer. They bonded over their strong Catholic faith and shared principles. Doris married Michael A. Caillouet on October 2, 2004. She passed peacefully away with her husband, her sister in law and her brother in law by her side. Doris, we love you.
