

Effie Marie Stockton, a lifelong resident of New Orleans, died peacefully Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the age of 88. Daughter of the late Maurice Stockton, Sr. and Effie Marie Lallande Stockton. Sister of the late Maurice Stockton, Jr., she is survived by nephews Maurice Stockton III and Paul Vickery Stockton, niece, Claire Stockton, great niece Ashleigh Christine Stockton and great nephew Noah Christopher Miller. Miss Stockton graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart, Sophie B. Newcomb College and Soule Business College. At Newcomb College, she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was a past queen of Les Pierrettes and Olympians. As a member of the Junior League of New Orleans, she served as editor of the newsletter, Lagniappe. She worked at WWL Radio as a record librarian. She had been a real estate agent with Grady Harper Realty. She worked as CEO of the family wholesale candy business, Purity Candy Company. Miss Stockton enjoyed photography, fishing and tennis.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard, on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Visitation is from 11 AM until 1 PM. Interment will be in Metairie Cemetery.
